Academics & Programs

The purpose of the Christ the King Catholic School Basketball Program is to provide a positive, Christian atmosphere for children to learn the sport of basketball while enabling them to become responsible, independent individuals. It is important to remember that volunteers and everyone working at Christ the King are working toward a common goal: to help our children reach their full potential, to build their confidence, to gain a love of the sport, and to develop good sportsmanship. It is our mission to provide the children of Christ the King Catholic School the opportunity to experience success in a supportive, competitive, and Christian atmosphere.

Goals: to learn the game of basketball, to get exercise and to have fun!

All parents must volunteer at the home games to ensure a successful program. Sign-ups will be available for taking money at the door, working in the concession stand, keeping the clock, and cleaning up at the end of the day.

Choir

Students in the 3rd through 6th grades are encouraged to participate in the children’s choir at Christ the King Catholic School. The choir sings at all the weekly children’s masses, as well as other times during the school year.

Battle of the Books (BOB)

Our 4th – 5th graders can choose to participate in BOB for the school year.  Participants read books, meet at recess to discuss the books, and work in teams to compete against other Catholic schools in our area and state to see which school’s team has the best knowledge of the selected books.  Students receive the reading list of selected books during summer break.  Recess meetings as a team start typically in October with competitions locally and for state occurring in April.

Other Activities

SCOUTS

Students are given the opportunity to join Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations. Volunteers for leadership positions are parents and/or staff members. All groups subscribe to the structure of such organizations. Meetings are normally held after school and endorsed by the administration of Christ the King Catholic School.
